Official DBZ Site Doesn't Care About Movie

Dragonball Z
Dragonball Z

Here's what the official DBZ website recently posted.

ImageThis is a test article on DBZ Live Action.

Honestly. Why do you people care about this?

Then again, never mind. You people keep asking about AF... so I can't expect you to understand.Image

Why did FUNimation write this on the official DBZ site? Was this a test and wasn't meant to go live? What the hell is going on?

To ask DBZ fans why they 'care' about the DBZ live action movie is both stupid and ignorant, not to mention highly unprofessional and libellous. Presumably most DBZ fans 'care' to some extent about the movie whether they are for it or against it. Furthermore, I find the line 'you people keep asking about AF' and the suggestion that we can't 'understand' insulting.

Does FUNimation think they know better than their loyal fans who have been buying their merchandise for years or are they simply keen to establish a hierarchy with themselves at the top?

Biting the hand that feeds you is most unwise. Perhaps like me they should reserve judgement until they have actually _SEEN_ the film and keep their personal feeling to themselves. Then again why take my advice? I'm just running a DBZ fansite, not the official website of the largest anime of all time.

I will be contacting FUNimation requesting a response though I wouldn't hold your breath. Last time I contacted them with a legitimate concern they failed to reply.

See the full news article here.

Update: FUNimation has now deleted the 2 random articles from their news page and once again failed to reply to me. Anticipating this however I took a couple of screenshots, which you can find here and here.

Official DB Movie Poster?

Here it is, the official Dragonball teaser poster. Looks pretty good to me, stars look a bit crappy though. Click here to see the Japanese version and the fake poster.

Update: It could well be a fake poster, which wouldn't surprise me given that it looks like a photoshop job. There's absolutely no 3D work gone into it at all. Either way Fox fails.

Will this be anything like the live action Dragonball movie currently in post-production? Probably and sadly not. We'll wait and see though.

First Look at Marsters as Piccolo

Piccolo Revealed

Here's the first look at James Marsters as Piccolo in the new live action Dragonball movie due out April 2009.

Piccolo Mock-up
Piccolo Mock-up

Although his face is concealed, Marsters has already gone on record to say that piccolo is bald and green. I have attempted to recreate the head to give you a (very) rough idea of what to expect. I call him Fakeolo.

Here's what make-up artist Ed French had to say.

ImageIt's a wrap on Dragonball in Durango, Mexico! I had the pleasure of applying the daily four hour Piccolo prosthetic make-up to actor James Marsters but I'm afraid the make-up effect will have to remain a mystery until Twentieth Century Fox Pictures gives the green light to release the photos of the finished make-up.Image
